This blog will be all about film reviews. I'm going to be watching a lot of movies, writing reviews, and hopefully not spoiling any movies you plan to watch.

Verdict: Thumbs Up Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan is the second movie in the Star Trek series. It follows the story of an aging Admiral Kirk as he decides to try and take control of the starship Enterprise once again. On Ceti Alpha V, Khan Noonien Singh captures two Federation officers who were exploring the planet to test a new device on, Genesis. Khan and his fellow mutants were left on Ceti Alpha V by Kirk after they tried to take over his ship. After taking control of the two officers ship, Khan begins hunting down Kirk to avenge the death of his wife. After an intense battle, which results in the death of the captain of Khans ship, Kirk manages to trick Khan into a trap and successfully defeats him. However, in a final act, Khan detonates Genesis, hoping the explosion will destroy the Enterprise. In order to save the Enterprise, Spock goes to the damaged and irradiated engine room and repairs the engines, allowing the Enterprise to escape. However, in doing so, Spock is so irradiated that he soon collapses and is near death. Kirk makes it down just in time to be with Spock in his final moments. A common theme throughout the movie is the idea of the no win scenario, where all the choices lead to death. Kirk maintains that there is no such thing but is brutally confronted with it when Spock gives up his life to save those on the Enterprise. If Spock had not died, everyone aboard would have. Another theme is the death-to-resurrection cycle. When Khan kills himself by detonating the Genesis device, the gas in the nebula formed into a new, life sustaining planet. When Spock gives up his life to save the crew, his death allows the others to continue living. And finally, Spocks and Kirk were like one person. In Spocks death, it allowed Kirk to be reborn as a new man, forever changed.
